    70S Cold Start Fire Hazard?

My 70S does not have it's cold start circuit connected and I was thinking of hooking it back up but I was a little concerned as to whether or not that was a good idea as I have heard it can be a fire hazard. My car is a bit of a mongrel (not numbers matching) but has metal MFI stacks, an air cleaner assembly with the cold start plumbing and the solenoid fitted to the pump. It would be pretty simple to hook it back up. I live in SoCal and it takes a few turns to get it to fire but obviously it would fire quicker with the cold start hooked up. My question to the forum is should I leave it alone as the original system was dangerous or hook it up and not worry about it. Thanks.

Mine is hooked up. Never had an issue. The difference is it starts in 4 seconds rather than 20. Obviously it is part of a larger system and all has to be adjusted and in good shape for it to be safe.

Thanks guys. I was a little worried as I had read that it was the cause of fires (maybe an urban legend) and that Porsche moved the squirt point from the air cleaner to the base of the plastic stacks. I had better look into how to check for proper operation.

The 1971 cars have their air cleaner and primer squirt plumbing made of plastic. When a somebody removes the air cleaner and is not careful ; they can break the plumbing when reinstalling and then a fire can occur. 1970 911"s not so much a fire hazard as the whole air cleaner and stacks are metal.
