    Holy crap. Too, too sad.

Heard about his crash but the media seemed to play it down.

Incredible talent and and a life long dedication. Hard to imagine racing on the edge for so many years first as a dirt tracker then as a world championship road racer to be taken out under pedal power. Godspeed Kentucky Kid!

'. . . The 35-year-old American, who currently races for the Red Bull Honda World Superbike team, was hurt while on a training exercise along the Rimini coastline when his bicycle was in collision with a car. He had competed in the Superbike World Championship races at Imola last weekend.

Hayden, from Owensboro, Kentucky, was treated at the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital. He was later transferred to the Bufalini hospital in Cesena. He suffered head and chest injuries in the accident and has been placed in an induced coma, according to reports. His mother, Rose, and brother Tommy have joined his fiancee Jackie at his hospital bedside . . .

The Kentucky Kid was truly one of the good ones I had some mutual friends who organized a 69 mile prayer/bike ride for him last week in Owensboro. He'll definitely be missed in that relatively small town.
