Hello all,
I am wanting to know what the small rectangular black block does that is positioned where the top of the drivers door window frame meets the door opening. There is not one on the passengers side,
Thanks in advance

i am just guessing, as you have no pics encluded, but maybe you mean:
Rubber door stop
901 531 753 00 / 911 531 753 02
Installed in early 911 Coupe to prevent wind noises
by preventing the upper window frame to be "sucked"
out at high speed.

Thanks for that Haul, I figured it was a 'stop' and now know the "why"
Drivers side only on my 72 ?? was that usual ex factory ??

I have spent time looking at photos of mainly 70-73 cars excluding Targa of course and these "stops" appear to be a random item. Admittedly the photographers dont exactly focus in on this area of the car.
Some have them but most do not have these installed which leads me to think that they were not a factory fitted item.
My 72T has one on the drivers side only and I get zero wind whistle on this side as well as zero on the passenger side which does not have the stop.
The fitting these obviously requires drilling and affixing with 'self tapping' screw or the like.
Perhaps as an assumption my drivers door required one as it obviously gets opened and closed more often than the passenger side.
I will attach some shots, 1 being with door closed and other with door open. This has clearly been on the car for some time and has slightly distorted the door seal but as mentioned there are no air leaks or wind noise so Im happy as I cannot stand 'whistle'
