    Seat base bolt pattern

Are they all the same where they bolt to the car? I am having some fitment problems with some seat belt brackets. The old seats were from a turbo car, not sure of the year. So I swapped them out for some period correct aftermarket seats. Not sure on the bases what year they came from, but they bolted right up. Neither of the seat bases had seat belt brackets, so I bought some for my year car ('72) that install on the rear mounting bolts for the base. The bolt holes in the car are about 18.5 mm center to center and the brackets are narrower by 4-5 mm and will not fit.

    Faulty brackets or ???

Thanks for the advice guys!!! I've packed up the brackets to send back to Sierra Madre. Fitment problems as the bolt spacing is wrong.

What is it? You guys don't like me OR is it my USER NAME???

BTW, I am not dumb. I bought my numbers matching '72 911S Targa for $4,000. And it is 99% rust free.

As far as I know, the fit of the brackets is not directly on the bolts of the seat rails/track mounting on the car itself, but they go on the bottom of the seat between the seat bottom and the rails/tracks.
if you want to fit them on the rear mounting of the car, you need to adjust/file/drill the brackets, of make your own. (wich is probably better since the seatbelt brackets from the early seats are quite thin)

Not sure, but I beleive the seat brackets changed in 1969 if I'm not mistaking. Thus later seats can only be fitted with later seat brackets.

The seat belt brackets on 69 to 73 seats bolt to the seat bases under the track that bolts to the seat base. People remove them from their old seats and attach them to the chassis and the spacing between those 2 captive nuts on the inner rockers are not the same distance apart. The holes in the seat belt brackets do need to be filed just a bit to make them fit. Maybe the picture will explain more than my poor use of the English Language. The top picture clearly shows the difference in the holes in the chassis and the holes in the factory seat belt mounting bracket. A few strokes with a rat tail file and the bracket will fit just fine. The lower picture is a typical adapter bracket for installing a high back seat from a 74 or later car and it is also used to mount many aftermarket Recaro seats into 73 and earlier 911s.

I think I get it now... They go between the slider and the seat... I'll yank one out and see. Other wise if mounted like in Mr. Breazeale's photo, I could put a strap on top and it would be safe enough.

I apologize for my frustration and rudeness, but the thread had dropped a page or so back. I really appreciate the help. I am trying get belts in it so I can acquire a "vehicle inspection sticker" (correctly spelled tax), plus there is the seat belt law. The original interior, including sport seats, probably made a land fill somewhere sadly. It had an early turbo interior in it. From the pictures I have seen of the original sliders, they had a fixture on each side for the belts to go.... This is correct?

I need to gather up one more 6J 16 and I'll have a set of five, tires, seat belts, and I drive!

Hope to have my car correct enough to be in the Esses mag one day!
