    Marchal Amplilux interior cleaning

I just installed a pair of NOS headlights and there is a slight haze or dusty film on the interior of the lens. You can see the milky haze in the photo. What can I do to clean this, without disassembling them? I was thinking of swirling alcohol inside.

If the lenses are fixed the same as the cibie biodes, i would remove them and do the job right.

They are glued on, but I'm concerned with damaging them in the process. Is there a recommended tool that is used?

    Glenn...

Removing the lenses is doable but it can be tricky. My experience with the various early dual reflector headlights such as Ampliluxes, Cibie Bi-Iodes, Carrellos and the like, is that the lenses were affixed differently at diferent times, even by the same manufacturer. I've successfully removed the lenses on many of them, but I have not been able to remove the lenses on a number of them. For example I'm working on a set of Carrellos right now and finding it difficult going.

I use a curved pick, a small bladed screwdriver, razor blades and Goof Off.

    Good luck!

    Cheers,
    John

I have used a heat gun and acetone to liven up the old glue. I then use a stanley blade. I bond with clear two pack epoxy resin.

I don't want them popping off over a speed bump.

Thanks for all the tips. The glue isn't hard. I'll give it a try at disassembling them. I just got new tips for my Snap-On picks. Epoxy sounds a little too permanent.

John, what do you glue them back together with?

I secure them with Permatex 85913 Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant, same thing I use on SWB turn signal lenses.

Thanks, that sounds a little easier to get apart, for next time.
