    COA Really Worth It?

Planning to sell my '71T soon (finally going to buy that 356C I've always wanted) but don't have a COA for the car. I'm sure this is potentially a Ford / Chevy debate but I'm curious if it's really a necessity for selling an early 911 in today's market. From those who've sold cars recently did not having one vice having it hurt the sale? Did it have any effect on final sale price? My car is a 2 owner driver not a high end resto FWIW and I've heard COAs can often be incomplete or incorrect.

Thanks in advance for any help or insight.

It would depend upon how close your car appears now to the items listed on the COA. Each change from original, i.e., engine number, exterior color, interior, optional equipment, etc., makes the COA less relevant and decreases its positive impact on any sale.

My COA confirmed that my car was very original, it had the correct engine, gearbox number, radio etc.... Some COA's won't have gearbox number, or very vague option lists. So it really depends, for some they are a bit of a let down, and expense for not so much info, for others it's really an invaluable document.

Pretty simple, if you are selling a matching #'s car then you need one, otherwise no.

If you are marketing it as an unmolested original, then absolutely. Helps make the case.

I continue to be amazed at how many people have had to call Porsche to get their COA corrected/revised based on equipment they have on their cars or just plain egrigious errors on Porsche's part...sadly, not much credibility IMHO...

Most of the mistakes are in the translation of certain options on the car, the important numbers usually are pretty accurate. I have heard you can call and complain and have them add all the rare options you want.

I've been tempted to order one just to see how accurate they are. I still have my original invoice to compare against.

Mine was spot on, and my car came with a lot of options. Helped explain all the random switches on my dash like the rear wiper and ttg driving lights.

That is why I recommend them although I have read the complaints here about inaccuracies. Just not my experience.
