    Just got a 1966 911

    Good evening members
Hoping you can enlighten myself and my son about our recently purchased 911
I was told it was a 1969, but...
Dying to find out all about my new purchase? Vin number 306963 on plate in front trunk, it's red now?
Body tag on drivers door hinge reads 306963, then under that 97-6602-L
In the smugglers box is an aux heater? Now common was that?
    Shows 14,000 miles?
Don't know history as owner has passed, but was in storage many years
I am trying to find the engine serial number?
    Where is it located
    Thanks
    Andy in New York

Nice find. Serial should be vertical & six digits. Just below the fan support to the right side...cliff

    Might be a 1967!

    Thank you for your replays
What part of the number denotes year?
    Vin in trunk
    Or body badge on door?
Please excuse my lack of knowledge, my only other Porsche was made in 1955

    3069xx was built in november 1966 as a MY67. 6602 is polo red, a 1966 color code.

The webasto was standard on if not all 66/67.

Cool find! Post some pic of the hibernation site

The gas heater was an option for 67N meaning normal, standard for 66.

The 6602 paint code is used for both 1966 and 1967.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

Yes, definitely a 1967; any VIN # over 305100 is considered a 1967 model year. Then in 1968 the VIN format changed to 118xxxxx. Also the paint code with prefix & suffix is 1967 style.

Where do we go from here?

    Wools
    That was premature
My quandary is PO put a 70's era body kit
Widened front and rear fenders, like RS
    RS front and rear spoiler
    930,ish tail
What looks like a 70's 2.3 6 with twin banks of Webbers
    Restore to original?
    Or
    Go with as recovered

Please advise if you have any thoughts....

    Want to post picture but
I don't know how to post pictures?
