    Engine Rebuild Help 2.0S

    Hi

I am rebuilding my 1967 911S 2.0 engine, its in fairly good condition but I will have to replace the worn Camshafts.

can anybody confirm if a 2.0E camshaft (available from Porsche) would be the same/correct for my "S" engine?

    Thanks in advance
    Ray

One of the unique features of the S engine were the cams, so they are not the same as E cams, they can be interchanged with one another but the profile's are different and the engine will behave differently.
Please do not take this any other way than as constructive advice, I think you should do some more reading up on the engine you are working on and avoid the 'I should have done' or 'if I knew that then I would have..'

    Or maybe...

Ray, I offer the following saga:

Also I recommend How to Rebuild and Modify Porsche 911 Engines by Wayne Dempsey, this is a good, not perfect, but very good beginning guide.

Good luck! We can answer all your questions here. And if it wasn't clear from the above, for an S motor you need an S cam.

Thank you for all the information.

I have been building engines for over 25 years, competency is not the problem, it was just a simply asked and simply answered question.

The next question being availability of new 2.0S camshafts has anybody got any suppliers?

    Thanks

There's also Web Cam in Riverside, CA.

In case you don't already have a copy of the little specifications booklet, here's the first camshaft page:
