'. . . Here is your chance to restore this 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Coupe that's located at our Kingman, AZ facility for viewing/inspection!! Extremely collectible and very high end on the 911 collectors scale.

We were able to find a detailed description and photos of this car before the fire . . .

'. . . First of only three 911 Carrera RSs ever imported into the US from the factory The Carrera RS is one of the most revered cars in the Porsche pantheon, and is regarded as one of the finest sports cars of the 1970's. Revealed at the 1972 Paris Auto Show, it was a factory special built to meet the homologation rules of FIA Group 4 racing. The RS (Rennsport) was almost invincible at Le Mans, Daytona and the Targa Florio, often winning outright against pure racing prototypes. It's not often you would see the same car on the podium one day, and passing you on the open road the next. The RS is conclusive proof that one of Porsche's greatest skills was building a car that was immensely competitive at the track, and equally useable as a street car. 911 3601182 is one of only 3 Carrera RSs originally shipped to the U.S. It was the first to arrive, and was the only car in black. This 472 Touring version was sent to the US in April 1973, and after arriving at the St. Louis port it was delivered to it first owner, Porsche racer and dealership owner, Art Bunker of Kansas City, MO. He would own the car until the early 80s when the RS was sold to a collection in Japan. In the 90s Porsche expert and automotive historian, Jean Pierre Cornu would purchase the car from the collection and ship the RS to France. Cornu would then sell the car to Claudio Roddaro of Monaco, and it lived in Monte Carlo until purchased by Canepa. This is a very original car except for one exterior repaint in its original black. It has numbers matching engine and transmission, and original factory sports seats. This Carrera RS captures the impossible combination of eminent drivability, total practicality, and huge fun. Few cars have ever, or will ever, match its ability to dominate at the track and then take you safely back home. Porsche Options: 102 Heated rear window 409 Sport seats left and right leather 423 Driver side outside mirror 441 Electric antenna with four speakers 482 Engine compartment lighting 549 Belts 3 points left and right 569 Shock bumpers . . .'

Interestingly it was last sold as a "numbers matching" car at Canepa. The Vin looks ok, cant read the production number from the photo but it was disclosed when for sale at Canepa, the engine number is not visible (at least to me) in these photos BUT the transmission number shows a transmission that is not correct for an RS - they did not have 732 numbered gearboxes. The correct number for this car is 7831149, I wonder when that was swapped?
