I don't doubt you, and you have done a really nice job. My concern is that the felt tends to hold any moisture that might get in the car, real promoter of mold and rust. One big reason so few of these cars survived.
I know the current generation of owners is obsessed with originality, but for long term durability and piece of mind, sometimes variations might be acceptable.
But, everyone is entitled to their own ideas on their cars.

Personally, I'd leave the '73 post; it wouldn't bother me a bit.

Yes, felt wasn't a good idea, but in the 60's it was the common sound deadening material. Yes, it holds up moisture (i think tha's why they covered it wit tar), and it kills the metal in long term. But these cars (mine especially) won't run every day and i think it won't even see any rain in the future. So that's why i stick with felt. My car will be a collector car (i hope), without any modifications (no foam seats, no turbo tie rods, etc.) But if i would use the car every day or even on weekends, then i would also use much better materials and mods.

When i will be ready with the car, i will decide what to do. I try to make it a concours collector car, so the lock post is not correct. But it will be the last thing i will redo.

There are much better paints and techniques today and they could last longer than the traditional painting methods from the 1500"s, but you wouldn't use them for restoring this painting.

Scott, sorry for the delay, busy with work.. I'm using a 3M product 08849. It is an OEM material for the auto industry. It is very easy to work with, and comes in 500X500mm sheets. Cut to shape, peel off the backing, and then roll into place with a small roller. The weight isn't too bad either.
