Question about clear bra on early 911

Thinking of getting a clear bra on the 911 before going up to Monterey.
I have some questions for anyone who has had it installed on their 911.
    Is it noticeable?
Did it turn yellow after a period of time?
If you have it removed did it damage the paint?
Any idea how much it should cost?
Can anyone recommend a installer in L.A. or San Fernando Valley area.

    Thanks Bernie in So. Cal.

I have see the clear wrap ( I think its a 3M product) fitted in 2 ways. $ and $$$
$ The wrap that mimics the old style "bra" is noticeable as you can see the cut line of the clear film across the hood and fenders. It works but it aint pretty.
$$$ The other way to do it is to totally film the front of car. Fenders back to the A pillar following the rubber seals and door line and covering the front hood completely, front bumper and below. This way it is near impossible to spot when installed on a perfect paint job.
As for price,, Im in New Zealand and the $ version was about $500 USD and $1200 USD for the other. Thing are devilishly expensive here in NZ for this sort of "pimp" my ride stuff so probably cheaper in the US.

I had one of these on my previous Cayman. I'll give my $0.02.

    Is it noticeable?
It depends on how much you have wrapped, as Mark said. You will see a line where the plastic film stops if you don't wrap the entire hood and front fenders. I suggest wrapping the whole hood and front fenders so there is no line. It looks much better that way and that's how I had my old Cayman done. The thing that makes an early 911 different from my Cayman is the early 911 really should have single-stage paint on it to look correct. Adding a layer of plastic on top of it is going to make it look more like a clearcoat paint job. It's personal preference, but I don't really like the clearcoat look on an early 911.

Did it turn yellow after a period of time?
Yes, they turn yellow after a period of time which I would WAG at ~5 years depending on how much UV exposure they get. Luckily my old car was yellow so I didn't have this problem

If you have it removed did it damage the paint?
Modern clearcoat paints are hard enough that removing it won't do any damage. Old single-stage paint? I'm not sure.

Any idea how much it should cost?
Varies greatly on how much surface area you have wrapped. I highly doubt there are any pre-cut kits for early 911s (not that you would want a pre-cut kit anyway since they always seem to be cut poorly) so it will be a custom install job where someone uses a wide roll of film and hand cuts it all to size and fits it. I would expect it to be $2,000+ for the complete hood and front fenders. 3M "Xpel" is the good stuff. If you can see the installer's work on another car before you commit that's best. You can look for wrinkles and stretch marks in the film to see how good of a job they do.

You wash it just like paint, but the film can also scratch/swirl like paint. Best thing to do is pick up some aircraft windshield cleaner like Plexus to clean it with. Bird and bee poop can also stain the film if it sits on it long enough.

    Hope this helps
