Would this be correct for a '66 911?

    Yes and no....

Click here for a detailed explanation. http://www.eurocarresource.com/artic...ification.html

Early cars (66-71) have orange bar hood crests with a smooth back and later cars (72-73) have the same orange bar hood crest but with a dimpled back. However there is no way to differentiate them while mounted on the car.

Lots of things on that page I disagree with.

2nd gen orange badges definitely started before 1972 and certainly lasted beyond "early" 1974. I have two very late, original '74 cars with orange badges.

Transitional badges were thru at least mid-1977.

The page might be so-so but the badge I have for sale is nice ;-)
