Early911SRegistry/RGruppe Coffee and Doughnutfest Sat, Aug 5

Just a reminder, our monthly 1st Saturday meet is tomorrow morning. Coffee is usually started to pour around 8:45 and the doughnuts arrive shortly after that. It's going to be nice and warm, but not hot as hell like it will be east of the Berkeley hills. For those of you that want a parking spot on Harlan St, get here plenty early. If you need a cup of coffee (ours is much better, though) before we get here, there is a Starbucks a very short walk south on Harlan to the shopping center. Please don't park your brand X car on Harlan St. We would like to save those spots for interesting Porsches. There is plenty of parking on Park St, in front of Pixar Studios and Park St is becomming a show in itself. Fantasy Junction is a 2 minute walk up Park St and is not to be missed, either. Hope to see many of you tomorrow.

    Regards

The first image is what Harlan Street looked like this morning at about 3 minutes after 8:00 AM, when I arrived. Curb to curb cars, fresh hot coffee, still warm apple fritters, a wonderfully cool overcast morning, and the promise of a great weekend in the air.................what a thoroughly enjoyable and fun institution the first Saturday of the months in Emeryvilla has become.

Photos #4 through #6 are of close friend's Lee Mlejnik's '70 T restored and Concours-winning Sportomatic which went to a new local home last year, but still looking as good as ever.

Image #8 - Pete Stout's 914 with luggage bin open to display the latest ( #3 ) issue of his magnificent "000" quarterly publication. Much too good and majestic in format and immaculate excution to be called a mere magazine, Pete's effort is surely destined to become an important component and a fundamental part of many a serious Porschephile's library.

    Continuing.......

Photos # 3, 4,5, 6 & 7 are of an especially good-looking SWB 912 in Irish Green with a wonderfully tasteful selection of the owner's family Tartan pattern for the seat inserts, powered by a robust 1.7 liter Series I twin-plug, 10 :1 compression motor built by Benton Performance of Anaheim and making 145 HP on the dyno, and 'Steelies'......Well Done !

Famous vintner Peter Kitchak, also an accomplished and enthusiastic collector of Porsches, brought two from his collection - a beautiful 356 Cabriolet, and a real, original & factory delivered Grand Prix white '73 911 RS Lightweight - the last three digits of its serial number..... #996

Carrying on, I thought image #7 would be the perfect image with which to start this set, but the usual site-gremlins decided to show as image #7................when you see the State of Liberty, you know instantly where you are, just as you can be certain you're in San Francisco when you see the Golden Gate bridge.............by the same token, when you see this well-worn Sepia Brown 911 with its unique six-pipe exhaust, no need to wonder whose car that is and just where you are...... Jim Breazeale's long-term, personal 911.

Another set, starting with images of a fine 'shorthood' 911 with some very tasteful changes.

Spencer Trenery, the younger half of the father & son team of owners of Fantasy Junction, virtually around the corner from EASY, brought this ex-Patrick Long Flying Lizard Race Team Porsche GT3 RSR for Show and Tell...............not a bad idea with about a hundred or so Porsche fanatics milling about in the street outside.

    First set of 10:

A 'short' set of 7 photos of various odds & ends to finish up my visit to EASY this morning.

Thanks to all the enthusiastic attendees who make this such a worthwhile way to spend a special morning, and a heartfelt Thank You to Jim B, for his continuing dedication and hospitality to welcome us to his place of business month after month...........after all these years.
