    1965 color chart

    911/912 1965 color chart.
    Mint condition.

    For the records and what we learned, its for late 65 cars (5.65) and 1966 models.
    65 cars before May 65 used the older 356 color chart.

    I am curious about this. Did both the 911 and 912 use the same color charts at the same time? I have a 912 and the color code is 6404. The "production complete date" is 8/23/1965. However, I suspect it was built in late July, just before the August plant shutdown. This suggests that the 356 color codes were used later than 5.65, no?

    major result had been, that there are two 356C color charts:
    a November 63 and a September 64.
    The 9/64 was used for the 901 series as for the 356 series up to the 5/65 color chart.
    Above factory information confirms this approach for orders.

    Page 50 of Charlie White's excellent book on 911 & 912 sales literature shows a picture of sales information cards dated April 1965 which clearly show the available colours for ordering; unfortunately the reproduction in the book is not that easy to see; if anyone has original of these cards, perhaps they would post photos of them so we can see the offering for sure...
