How to repair 1967 rearview mirror?

The rearview mirror on my 1967 normale has finally developed the droops and will not stay put. Photos are attached.

I think that the socket around the ball on the ball-and-socket type of connector is loose and needs tightening or replacing. I vaguely remember seeing a similar repair thread somewhere, but after several internet searches came up empty handed.

Any idea how to repair the mirror?

    Thanks in advance.

    Jim

Try a couple of drops of blue Loctite. You may have to repeat in six months or so, perhaps not.

Interesting solution, until my wife drives the car ... Maybe I could get her a couple of cushions and tell her not to adjust the mirror.
