Help - Installing Rear Quarter Window into Window Frame

I just spent the afternoon trying to install my one of rear quarter windows into the moveable window frame. My frames are newly polished and anodized and I have new seals.

I lubed up the seal and frame channel with liquid dish soap and was able to slide the window and seal into the frame with a nice fit. The problem is that while I try to install the angle brackets, the U-shaped frame expands and the window pulls out of the rubber channel. Once it comes out, I can't get it to go back into the rubber channel and the U-shaped frame will not compress enough to allow me to complete the bracket and end frame installation.

It seems like I need to somehow clamp the frame closed while I do the bracket and end frame installation.

Is there an easier way? Is this a two person job?

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I used a lot of clips, like the ones they use for the headliner, it worked for me.

Hi Tom, I'm struggling with the same project. Did a pair several years ago but don't remember how. I was thinking of making a jig, Wood frame, to accommodate bar clamps. Whatever the case some sort of clamp is needed. Make sure you fit them up first without the glass to make sure The joints are tight and all the screws lineup

Tom, where did you source the rubber?

Ed.......I bought all my seals from Intl Mercantile.

Hey John.....I made sure the beveled edges between lined up nicely when the corner brackets were installed with no glass or rubber. I have been told this is a two man job. Maybe I should take a ride down your way and we can do two pairs together.

Sounds like a plan Tom, but Ed is onto something here. Like the windshield seals, this is another case were original is the only way to go. The aftermarket versions are thicker, thereby harder to make fit. I need to go back and look at my receipts.

    The part is 901-543-191-20

Local Porsche dealer wants $75 each, IM $20 each. No way IM is OEM, most likely URO or similar s***. Best to throw it out.....and start with original Porsche from dealer,

I purchased my seals through PORSCHE and with the help of another set of hands, they assembled quickly and easily.

Tom, Porsche dealer-only items for all the glass seals. I got mine on in about fifteen minutes per side with some dish soap. The dimensions are absolutely critical.

Porsche seals and a simple help jig made this a relatively easy one person job.

    Thanks for all the help.
