Looking for help installing a Talbot 333 mirror. Advice needed!

Hoping someone will have some insight on installing this type of mirror. I want to install it
in the standard drivers side location but I'm confused by the bottom "bar" type installation.
I read the instructions and seem a little lost on this one. Anyone have experience with this
or see it different then I do? Looking at the instructions below it is part # 2 that causes confusion.

I have a similar version of the Talbot mirror. It fit onto my door with the factory holes, and the instructions (#2) also confirm that it will work on the door. If it makes you feel better, Talbot mirrors are not terribly simple to install. (It would seem that someone could design a mirror that did not require complete dis-assembly to mount the bloody thing.)

It's not exactly clear what your question is, except that it relates to the hook (#2 in the drawing). Instruction #4 tries to explain the interaction of the parts, but I think the essence of it is that the J-hook goes inside the door, under the door skin, and then you tighten bolt 3 into #2 to hold it in place. Then you basically have to re-build the part of the mirror that actually shows.

If I have misunderstood your question, please forgive me.

Thanks, I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm going to

How about a couple of pics while you install it? Pretty sure you won't be the last scratching their head at this

I will take a couple pictures when I have it apart. I just tapped the rod to increase the length ...in the pics it will make sense.
