Low Idle after repair of alternator

Had to send out a 45 years all original alternator to been overhaul.
The service included new diodes, windings, regulator and cleaning of the fan.
The alternator/fan looks and works very well.
Unfortunately idle is very low now. Is 600/min, was 950/min before.

    What may be the reason?

Warm up then remove the belt. If idle RPM goes up to 950 I'd talk to the alt rebuilder.

If no change in idle RPM then merely a coincidence? Confirm that your timing and mixture are ok and adjust your idle screw if necessary.

Should you stop the engine first?

Frank, I would pay for you to demonstrate that technique on PORSCHE 6 while the engine is in the car!
