    MFI hard line install

    Hello,

    After years of having a box full of MFI parts, including a pump having recently gotten a clean bill of health from Mark Jung, I have started the conversion process from carbs to MFI. I look forward to a cleaner smelling garage with the replacement of my weeping Webers.

    The pump and cleaned up throttle bodies have been installed as well as new fuel injectors that I bought 5 years ago. I started installing the hard lines but after torquing down the first line, I noticed that the line would move as I did the final tightening. When I disconnected the line from the injector, it no longer lined up. I realize that the lines are flexible to a certain extent, but is there a recommended way of installing the lines so they are not slightly torqued/twisted?

    Should I put any anti-seize on the threads? I couldn't find any links, besides install torque, on how to install the lines.

    ALWAYS antiseize on the threads. and even so you may need to hold a line in position while you tighten the line nut. In addition to the rubber dividers on the throttle bodies that help cradle the lines, there should also be a clamp holding the three lines together usually positioned near the MFI pump.

    Will add antiseize. I have the dividers on the throttle bodies and will look for that clamp on the lines.

    Hopefully all will go well and I won't have to flatbed it to your shop

    Make sure and use the proper flare wrenches and progressively tighten at both ends too.

    Make sure there is some lubrication between the line and the fitting, not just on the threads.

    I used a crows foot up at the top of the pump. It helps with several of the lines that are hard to torque.
