Size: 141.9 KBEngine quit, found the following. Anybody out there have any suggestion? The spring steel piece in picture should be in one piece not two. Retains a small ball bearing. Other Bosch distributors may have this same piece, VW or?IMG_3989.JPG.jpeg

    Date code is weird
039 = 1970 but they started numbering the months 21 through 32, then did the quarters 33 through 36, there is no 039

anyway you might find one in an old Volvo before the 240s came out with the reluctor type, but if it were mine I'd send it to Barry Hershon or Ed Fall and have them rebuild the whole thing with parts from a distributor that "didn't make it".

MBZ had Bosch distributors for 6 cyl gas motors using that same pc in mid to late 60's (maybe earlier?), My 67 250S had one break maybe 15 yrs ago, got a couple "beater" distributors from a yard, I cant imagine Bosch made more than one of those stampings.
I may have one more but if the above folks have parts go for it. I am sure it needs the friction sheet and more springs & such to make it right. 72 does sound late for this set up.
    Good luck
