    FS: @BaT - '71 'S' Coupe . . .

    VIN = 9111300023
    Eng# = 6310225
    Trans# = ?

    '. . . This 1971 Porsche 911S coupe was acquired by the seller from the second owner in Northern California around four years ago. It is finished in factory-correct Light Yellow over Black and was recently treated to a rotisserie restoration. Work included a bare metal repaint performed by Bishop Custom Cars in Palm Springs, California, and the interior was redone by Thomas Auto Trim. Power comes from a correct but non-original 2.2-liter flat-six paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. During the restoration, the engine was rebuilt by Losee EuroTech Performance in Riverside, California with new heads, pistons, cams, valves, and more. The mechanical fuel injection was then tuned by Black Forest Automotive in San Diego. The seller states that all restoration-related parts were sourced from Porsche, Stoddard, Pelican Parts, or AASE. The car has reportedly been restored to stock configuration aside from an upgraded timing chain tensioner and a stainless steel exhaust. This longhood 911 is now offered with a book detailing the restoration, a Porsche CoA, over $100k in restoration receipts, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

    In these pictures, the bare-metal repaint appears to have been completed to a high-standard with a consistent shine. The windshield has been replaced with a German Sigla reproduction unit, and all rubber seals are said to be new throughout, along with the brake lines. Just prior to this auction, a scratch was discovered on the driver’s lower front valence as highlighted in the photo gallery below. The seller states he will have it professionally fixed for the next owner.

    The front trunk was fully refinished during the restoration, and contains a spare Fuchs wheel/tire along with the factory tool kit. The fuel tank was removed, refurbished, coated, and re-installed per the seller.

    The interior was redone in correct Black leatherette by Thomas Auto Trim.

    The cabin has been refreshed to stock specification to the seller’s knowledge, including the radio and steering wheel. Instrumentation was restored by marque specialist Palo Alto Speedometer. The odometer currently displays 14,830 miles, with total mileage unknown.

    The car is powered by a non-original 2.2-liter 911S flat-six (#6310225), which is equipped with mechanical fuel injection and mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt by marque-specialists Losee EuroTech Performance in Riverside, California with new heads, pistons, cams, valves, a new alternator, and a new CDI system. It was reportedly assembled in stock specification aside from an upgraded timing chain tensioner and the stainless steel exhaust/heat exchanger shown below per the seller. New OEM specification fuel lines were utilized.

    Additionally, the 5-speed gearbox was fully rebuilt including a new clutch and pressure plate. A leak-down/compression test was performed in July 2017 and showed 185/3, 185/4, 182/4, 180/3, 186/3, and 182/4 psi/% in cylinders 1-6 respectively. The most recent service was completed around two months ago by Black Forest, who tuned the MFI system.

    Additional undercarriage pictures are displayed in the photo gallery below.

    Several in-process restoration pictures are also shown in the photo gallery, and the seller states that the body used was rust-free with solid floors.

    The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity is included along with service records from the previous owner and a book documenting the restoration process. Over $100k in restoration-related receipts also come with the car and do not include the paint . . .

    Sport seats were standard and comfort seats were an option in all '71 911 S cars. COA should show the comfort seats if they were factory installed. Also has a '76 dash and later style six inch Fuchs among other issues. It is an early production '71 so should have deep six wheels.
    High bid was $90k at RM Santa Monica in June.

    Absolutely true Phil. My 71S actually has on the build sheet from Porsche (NOT CoA):

    "Right side comfort seat for birthing hips."

    At least that's how I interpreted it.

    Generally, cars kept in the limelight don't do as well with repeated attempts to sell. It could auger-in.
