    Distributor question

I acquired a 2.2 engine that is new never run proffesionaly built from a 2.2T case that is now a 2.2 with E heads that has 32/32mm ports, Weber 40IDA carbs and DC30 cams. It came with a Marrelli S112BX distributor and I also have a Bosch 0 231 169 003 that has vacuum advance. Would either of these work or can made to work?
    Thank you. Steve

The Marelli caps are hard to find, which is why only dedicated Concours participants use that distributor.

You don't say what compression ratio, what pistons, what octane fuel, what jets, what target AFR, whether this is a street or race engine.

An 003 is a T distributor. . . but remember that the T had a higher dynamic compression ratio than the pistons would suggest due to the reduced overlap.

If you have a Bosch Dist with a vacuum advance it is for a 2.4 or later and won't fit in your 2.2 engine case. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Marrelli Distributors. Thanks to Parts Klassik, replacement parts for them are easy to come by.

I will check if they have advance weights, mine from the 71 were worn in the corners and advance would not start at the right rpm, went to the Bosch mechanical, 006 & 007 settled on the 007 as it ran better (this was about 10 yrs ago and the $$ was much less then) would like to correct the Marrelli if parts are available.
    Thanks for the tip!

I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but which distributor (Marrelli or Bosch) came from the factory on the early 70-71 T USA model? I've read conflicting info.

    Thanks.

    Jerry,

    Thanks for the info.

Do you know if the Marelli S112AX is for a '69T and a S112BX is for a '70T. I searched, but could not determine which dizzy was correct for my '70T.

    Thanks,
    -Dennis

No I dont, I have the one out of my 71, I can check the # on it but that does not really answer your question. Traveling in the am for work, drop me a PM if interested in the # off my 71, will be back by end of the week.

    Regards
