    Question on door handle seals

I was installing my door handles today on the 69 E. The front seal was a small black square that went just under the chrome pad, so when installed you can barely see any of it. It's a finished edge piece that I saved during disassembly. From photos it looks like it should be the larger version with the beaded edge like the rear handle seal. Were these small seals original to pre 70 cars, or should a 69 have the larger type seal? Name: handle2 (2).jpg

I don't recall ever seeing a door handle without a dominate rubber edge around the chromium handle. ....cliff
