    Hellcat double fatality

"They were likely going more than 100 mph when they ran off the runway, the paper reported." Journalists these days are absolute MORONS.

Me thinks they were trying to see 2 hun on the speedo and ran out of road... and depth perception. Very sad; I'm sure they leave behind loved ones. Probably no video... assuming they both had flip phones.

Well that explains it, last hurrah!! Physical condition prior to test drive may have been a contributing factor, anyone know?

They found a runway and got permission, at least they protected everyone else from harm.

I agree. This shows excellent judgement but poor driving skills or reflexes.

If anyone has additional details please post. It's very sad but I find this incident absolutely fascinating.

How on earth do 2 mature(?), successful(?) older men pull a stunt like this?

    What was their background?
Were they car enthusiasts or complete novices?
Were they pilots? (IMO: No freaking way!)
Did one of them own the car or did it belong to someone else?

Do not know. Anything that leads to unplanned demise seems to me to bring judgement into question......

    Thelma and Louise

    Double suicide?

Doing a high-speed run on an airport requires thinking first and foremost about how you're going to get stopped, and clearly marking out a braking area based on a worst-case estimate of acceleration and brake/tire/surface performance. There's an old Girling film about '68 Le Mans called Don't Start What You Can't Stop. Sound advice then. Sound advice today.
