    Targa Bar Finish

Would appreciate some help in getting some scratches out and restoring the correct "grain" in the stainless targa bar. What are the best products for these separate procedures? Thanks in advance. Mike

this is a great question, and i will watch this thread carefully.

for me, each attempt to 'remove' scratches simply resulted in another 'pattern' of the brush. i did the best i could with Barkeeper's friend and reconciled myself to the remainder be 'character marks.'

someone else told me that the entire surface had to be re-polished, so that the 'grain' (as you put it) was as consistent as possible, regardless of originality.

like i said, i haven't heard a good answer, so i'm watching to see what you uncover.

On my 67 911S targa I used Scratch-B-Gone with great success. Technique is most important, and if you watch the manufacturer's video you will see why. There is no need to "repolish" to restore the grain as this product, with the applicator pads, produces (restores) the grain, rather than "polishing" it out. I highly recommend this product if you use it as directed.

Thanks Jim, I've had another recommendation for the Scratch-B-Gone system, and then using a stainless cleaner afterward. I think I'll try it, as I have a variety of scratches of different severity. Thanks again, Mike

Additional information from the 912bbs, the key is the current condition and how much re-graining is required.
