    W: 1965 Porsche 911 - Dead or Alive

    l'm looking for a 1965 model year 911 ( pre-August 1965 production, only please ) project car.

Condition could be anything from a pile of bits through a 'barn find' to a 'driver'. Not looking for a show quality restored car. Matching numbers would be ideal but less of a problem the earlier the car.

The earlier the car, the better. V8 engines, turbo look, slant nose or any other 70's mods not a worry.

All leads taken up, many thanks.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

    Thanks Joe.

I've clocked that one, ideally I'd like something a little earlier for that asking price.

    Search over

I was fortunate to be able to buy this 1965 MY ex race car from Mikko, on this forum.

VIN 301577 original colour Bali Blue, with factory sun roof (currently spot welded shut).

Non matching engine in there, is 902089 which has been enlarged to 2.6 litres and is a bit of a screamer. I think this is an engine originally from a very late '65 MY car, right on the 1965-1966 transition.

Thanks for everyone who replied to my ad.

    Thank you for the update.

What are your intentions about this car?

Well I'm going to smoke around in it for a while as it is, with the windows down and the sun roof freed !

Then perhaps put it back partially to original ie original Bali Blue, open up the sun roof, ditch the impact bumper and short hood and go period bumpers. But definitely keep the wheels, engine, trans & 's' brakes and suspension.

Kind of shift the bias a little and make it a more period ex race car that is fun for the road or track. It is what it is and I want to preserve its history, all of it.

Love to drive it down to Le Mans sometime. I'm guessing you've been to the racetrack.

Le Mans Classic would be fun with such a car. It is possible to drive on the big racetrack with your own car. That is really unusual.
Next edition is in July 2018.

I will be there, for sure, but doubt that my new project will be ready for it
