silvered back of turn signal lenses

    Hello,

I have a 69 911 S and my front and rear turn signal lenses are in great shape, except for the silvered portion on the back edges flaking off. Does anyone have a good paint or other coating I could apply to restore the silvered edges?

    Thank you,

    Jim

Ed has guided you to the narration, and the answer in a word, no.

Maybe someone will hire upon a technique for re-silvering.

Jim I got your PM on this. I have an idea to try using silver Mylar tape with clear adhesive on one side but I don't have a lens to try it on. Anyone want to send me a throwaway silver edged lens to experiment with? It can be crazed or crack or even broken in half as long as there is 6 or 8 inches of old silver edge to test this on.

Yes, there is a techinque. It called vacuum vaporised aluminium. It will reproduce the original "chrome" finish. But the final quality depends on the preparing. You have to polish the frame to crystal clear.

Yes the key to success is polishing the gutter as crystal clear as possible.
