    Inline fuel filters

I'm looking for a small compact all metal inline fuel filter for my 71-911T.I have access to Mahle,Hengst,Mann and other aftermarket filters.I can't seem to find one.I have come across a Mahle which is plastic, but I don't think they are safe.Any suggestions.

    Thanks David

I have been using these on my PMO carbed RSR motor. One downstream of the fuel pump and one each on the carb inlet lines.

Tom,I have those, but one technician said they could be a fire hazard because of the plastic? So can I assume if Mahle makes it that way, they are safe?Or is there still the possibility of a problem?

    Thanks David

If you don't like the plastic use the KL12. I have used the plastic for years.

Never heard of plastic fuel system components being a fire hazard before - someone better tell the auto industry!

Where you put the filter and how you secure it, however, now that's a different matter.......

Look on ebay for a variety of inline fuel filters. You have a choice of housing materials (steel, plastic, aluminum) from $2 up to $100 or so. Some filters can be taken apart for cleaning or replaced.

Here's an example: Metal canister filter (OEM GM, Jag., etc.) with female threads on either end to accept hose or AN adapters. Less than $10 ea.

If you don't want to mount a big Racor (filter + water separator) on the firewall, Richard Parr sent me a pair of some Chinese made metal cans. They are small but fit the fuel lines just fine. He may have them on his web site.

I used these Mocal filters for my Webers. I liked them because they were shorter than most other in-line filters I saw. They can be purchased from BAT Inc (http://www.batinc.net/mocal.htm). Part number is AF7-6 (-6AN Male 40mm).
