Assuming you're speaking of the front hubs with the wheel bearings in them? Disassemble, clean, level of cleaning up to you. Remove bearings and races, replace all, repack with fresh wheel bearing grease, and new seals.

How crazy do you want to get??

Ed outlined a proper mechanical restoration....

    The cosmetics would involve:

    Remove inner seal

Press out studs and bearing races

Glass bead, polish, and re-clear anodize hub body

    Re-black oxide studs

Press in new bearing races and refinished studs

    Pack new bearings

Install inner bearing and press in new seal

Re-install on spindle with new outer bearing and adjust

    Viola!

After complete disassembly and cleaning, we ceramic tumble the hubs, they come out like new. The hubs are bare ALU, we didn't find any coatings. Gordon

Actually... I didn’t anodize my projects! I thought I was just cheap and lazy!

I used low pressure glass bead, and knocked it down with 4-0 steel wool.,..same result!

I assumed they were clear anodizing. I should have known Gordo would have the coating down!

The ones on my '65 were clear anodized. Luckily they were in such nice shape after ultrasonic cleaning that I just decided to leave them and not have the anodizing re-done. Black phosphate the suds, grey phosphate the dust caps put in new races, pack the bearings and they will be good for another 50 years
