    FS: @eBay - 1968 elephant hide toolkit - not mine

    Just some info for those interested.

    I previously purchased this toolkit from this seller and had to return it. Lots of issues but the biggest was the hardening of the vinyl on the bag.

    It wasn't disclosed when I purchased the kit, it is disclosed now (albeit, rather optimistically), but IMHO the hardening is severe and makes the bag unusable. Close to a third of the bag is dried out and stiff as a board. Only a matter of time before the cracking starts.

    I don't think the seller is a Porsche guy or really knows toolkits. Seems like a nice enough guy though.

    I thought old, wrinkled skin was supposed to be hard and cracking?

    So what's a soft, supple pachyderm satchel worth?

    Perhaps not the place to have the discussion, but my in my dealings with Dave Merz he has been nothing but a gentleman.
