    Double Locker Tilt Base Questions

I purchased a pair of sport seats for my '73T project, but the seats did not come with the tilt bases - so I am looking at my options.

Some background: The car is an early build (likely pre-January) 1973T-V RoW car. The car was originally equipped with sport seats, but they were swapped out with comfort seats at some point during its life before I purchased it. Assuming a pre-January build date, based on what I have read, it may have been originally equipped with single-lockers instead of double-lockers. Plus, single-locker bases are more readily available than double-lockers, but putting the "correct" bases in the car is not as important to me as safety. Hence, my questions:

    1. How much safer are double-locker than single-locker bases? From what I've read, for cars equipped with sport seats, the factory started fitting the double-locker bases starting in January of 1973. Is this correct, or was it from the start of production for MY 73? And was it for the US market only for DOT, or RoW as well? From what I understand, the change to a double-locking mechanism was due to a concern of the single-locking slider failing upon a collision from the rear. I did a quick search but could not find any references to this. Was this a precautionary measure by the DOT, or are there known instances of the single-locker slider failing?
    2. Does anyone know if the Carpoint tilt bases have double-locking sliders? I can see from photos that there is a release bar across the entire front, so I assume that both rails lock, but my question sent to the seller on eBay went unanswered. If the conclusion is that double-lockers are the way to go, then I may explore this option.

    Thanks,
    Frank

Your data is pretty correct Jan/Feb 1973 and ROW was also included.

Double lockers just by their nature would be more secure for sure.

I believe the car point sliders, which are modern derivatives do indeed lock on both sides

Their tilts look good but wish they had gone the extra yards and made their sliders match factory
