Thread: Little disconcerting article....

    Little disconcerting article....

But come to think of it...are we not already in somewhat of a "country club" environment anyway? Although, I might add...we tend to help each other out.
There are "elitists" in any sport/hobby/passion...but I tend to think of us as a productive community that will continue to thrive on sharing.
Here you go...just one man's opinion, and certainly not mine.

Lars. Thanks for the article. I agree with it. Unless there is a next generation of enthusiasts; cars as we know them today will go the way of the manual transmission.

I almost never post but I disagree with the article. There is no way that the insurance lobbyist or the local government will ever let this happen. Local governments make a tremendous amount of money off of our errors. That would mean the end to speeding, traffic fines, DUI's. There is too much money generated. As far as the insurance companies go, they have been collecting my $300 a month to insure all my families cars for the last 40 years and we have never maid a claim. That amount of lost revenue will never happen.

I can believe this happening in major metro areas. I'll be dead and gone before we see this out in the middle of nowhere on US Highway 40.

I just heard a interview with a Autonomous Vehicle proponent. When questioned about real accident numbers, he stated that they had solid evidence that Autonomous Vehicles have a far better safety rating than Automobiles driven by drunks and distracted drivers. Doesn't that make you feel warm and fuzzy?

Based on GM's last prediction, I think Lutz's time frame is a bit optimistic.

At least with respect to fabrication the future looks to be as bright as any period in history.

Really? There are States that are looking at attaching GPS's to cars so they can tax them per mile driven in-state. Why? Because they're losing out on the tax revenue due to the mandated fuel efficiency standards and electric vehicles.

Governments just don't think that far ahead.
