I wonder if Jürgen Barth can be contacted and can help.
He is still around and busy, being back then a Porsche Driver in both Rallys and Races.
He also helped with the 72 ex Toad Hall chassis.

I may have a lead to contact him , another thought would be Ahrens himself?

Well that was fast! I just got off the phone with Mr Barth and he told me a little history on the car.
The conversation started well, with "That's an special car" or interesting I'm paraphrasing here!
He said he believes Porsche allowed Ahrens to use the car in 1969 for races through the season. This was 1969 when Ahrens was racing
the 917 for the world championship. Jurgen is currently at Daytona racing in the classic event so it was hard to hear everything
that was said. He told me to contact him next week, he will try to dig up more information on the car and confirm what he told me.
Stay tuned!
I'm guessing when he left the team in 1970 they handed over the car? I can picture it in the paddock 1969 with the car parked
among the red transporter and 917's
What a pit vehicle! makes my scooter seem even more sad at my race events

Cool find! Silver should be easy to spot next to Rodriguez' RHD orange S and Siffert's green one....
I confirmed a few more things today. The transmission is not original it is now 7195780 , on the Kardex it lists 7195444. Very close and odd to swap out to such a close number. Factory change maybe?
Confirmed the paint code 6851 on the stamp...it is covered in paint so I could not get a picture of it. Here are a few shots of the car in its current state.
As crazy as it might sound I have visions of stripping it down and turning it into a a proper 69 period race car. I have a fresh 69 S engine built to 2.5 long stroke
Oh and I'd keep the large speakers in the rear lol
Here is a short form of what is known so far:
119300950
3 bar grill is included
s brakes
Front oil cooler
T engine
E MFI
901/13 Trans
Scheel Race seats
Tilt bases
Original gauges
Original oil tank
VERSUSH factory car KARDEX verified
Ahren ownership
Jurgen Barth verified ,more info to come

Yes-yes --- it would be very interesting to hear from Mr Ahrens . . . to maybe find out how he got the car, used it, and what he did with it
Who knows . . .
. . . he might even have some photographs
And thanks again for posting all this!
Of all the places for this sort of car to turn up . . .
......
The Canadian prairies are quite large. Where was this found?
Here are some interesting shots, I thought I found the car in the first pic but the windows look to foldout SWB. Shows he's a silver fan. Or possible the windows were swapped
for personal preference?

Just heard back from the Ahrens racing team and they confirmed that this is the car. Windows must have been
changed, also notice the rear wiper? Ahrens son told me he and his father were speaking about this car the other night
trying to remember details. He said that every few years he would get another Porsche so it mixes together.
One very interesting fact he said was the 1969 was a Factory test car but could not remember the details.
