    Tax plan may hurt collectors

The House tax plan will eliminate "1031 exchanges" which allows a car or art collector to defer capital gains taxes if the proceeds from a sale are reinvested in "like kind" assets. Real estate investors (who must have better lobbyists) get to keep their 1031 exchanges.

Stay calm. It's a draft of a bill presented by the House to the Senate.

I doubt any final bill, if ever passed, will resemble the rough draft. I'd beat that no tax bill may be passed.

I like the new highs in the stock market (today) will all the indexes climbing the Wall of Worry to new highs. It's been a once in a lifetime run for stock investors. All long stock cap gains and dividend income are already at a lower tax rate in the current tax code.
