    FS: @BaT - '76 Porsche Turbo Carrera . . .

    . . . ex-peter Gregg . . .

'. . . This 1976 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera shows 57,512 miles and was purchased new by racer and Brumos Porsche owner Peter Gregg. The car was completed on June 16, 1976, months after Gregg won the 24 Hours of Daytona in a BMW 3.0 CSL and Brumos took 3rd overall with a 911 Carrera RSR driven by Hurley Haywood. This example was special-ordered in Grand Prix White over Rostbraun Nappa leather with special Dr. Fuhrmann seats, Dark Brown carpeting and off-white door panels/rear panels. Gregg drove the car approximately 10,500 miles, and in 1978 a Mr. Asunsolo purchased it from Brumos Porsche. Mr. Gregg personally handed the new owner his keys and signed the owner’s manual as described below. Mr. Asunsolo drove the car until 1997, when he parked it in an Acapulco garage. The selling dealer recently purchased it after 39 years of Mr. Asunsolo’s ownership. The matching-numbers 3.0-liter turbo flat-six is mated to the original 4-speed manual gearbox and reportedly turns freely, though it has not run in years. This 930 is now being offered in Texas with 39 years of documentation, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, factory manuals, and a clean Montana title.

The previous owner’s bill of sale from 1978 is included and lists an exterior stripe, Cibie headlights, Pirelli P7 Tires, and color-coordinated BBS wheels as included equipment, along with a customized extended warranty. This 930 is believed to have received a repaint in Grand Prix White years ago, and the finish is now separating as displayed below and detailed in the extensive photo gallery. Several other exterior flaws are also highlighted.

The seller states that factory markings and factory paint is present underneath the front bonnet. Additionally, there is original horse hair felt on the jack mount, factory-applied glue on the inner fenders, and an original seal on the smuggler’s box. The original Behr air compressor also remains present, and the car was ordered with an electric sunroof.

The door panels and rear panels were originally covered in special-order linen color, which has since deteriorated and/or been removed. According to the seller, the original Rust Brown Nappa leather Dr. Fuhrmann seats and Dark Brown carpets remain fitted.

The cabin appears to have been kept largely stock aside from upgraded stereo speakers and a Sony cassette player. Inside the glove box, there is a sticker that says “Porsche Museum,” which reportedly appears as if it may have been affixed when new.

The odometer currently shows 57,512 miles, which are claimed to be correct based on known ownership history from new and 39 years of included documentation.

This 930 retains its original turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six, which has not run in years but turns freely by hand according to the seller.

Engine number 6860484 is correct according to the CoA, and transmission number 7760506 is also displayed in the photo gallery.

Several additional undercarriage pictures can be found in the photo gallery. Gregg reportedly had two other 930 Turbos in the same configuration as this car, but this is the only 3.0L car known to exist with these specifications.

When Mr. Asunsolo came to pick up this 930 from Brumos Porsche in 1978, Peter Gregg personally handed him the keys. Additionally, he signed the original owner’s manual as shown above, which reads “March 1978, Dear Mr. Asunsolo – This Porsche turbo is the most beautiful car I have ever had. I hope it brings you the pleasure it brought me. Sincerely, Peter Gregg.” A Tech Booklet dated January 1977 will also accompany the sale.

The included documentation details Mr. Asunsolo’s 39+ year ownership. It shows that he traveled with the car to Barcelona, then Veracruz, before settling in Acapulco where it was later discovered.

The Certificate of Authenticity confirms that this 930 retains its original engine and gearbox. The interior is listed as Leather to Sample (99), and the optional electric sunroof is also shown. The build information for this car has also been corroborated by Porsche expert Jurgen Barth . . .
