    Fitting SC/RS airbox cover

Purchased an ST-classic SC/RS airbox intake to replace the factory snorkel. Contacted John Gausden several times with no replies. So, I’ll post my simple question here and hope for a reply.

Car is my ‘72 period hot rod, blucille, with ‘72 7R 2.7 MFI, twin plug motor...TLG recently fitted a steel airbox, and suggested replacing the snorkel.

When I got the part from ST-classic and went to install it, the air filter element isn’t fitting well, the cover doesn’t squeeze against the air filter element, so the filter drops down. And I can’t imagine it seals at all, so I’m not getting effective filtration.

So, am I missing an additional gasket or filler piece?

I’d post some photos but the car is in SoCal, and I’m back in NJ....any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Lewis

Not probably "perfect" but 3M make circular foam pads that would stick to the filter element and take up the void space.
You would have to cut the inner circumference out to suit the element diameter.
Just a thought but without a tight fit you have no filtration on your intake as you say.

Pretty sure there is a rubber seal ring that mounts to inside of snorkle, where the filter seats against it.

Ed, were they , or are they a slightly 'bellowed" rubber ring ??.
Probably not the best discription Ive made.
But hollow to allow the compression of the filter against its end/end faces
