I'm going to need your help, '73 restoration questions

I'm just going to post my issues as they come up and in no order.

How to remove the 2.4 emblem off the grill to get the grill powder coated. What should be chrome and what should be black? The chrome rectangular base for the numbers looks like it has plastic pins that the ends were melted to keep the plate mounted to the grill.

This is going to be a thread that keeps on taking. Im going to lean on this forum for advice on the correct way to restore a early 1973 911T.

Thanks for any suggestions and advice this forum has provided for so many.

Looks like a nice start Bruce......

So the correct advice comes your way efficiently a suggestion would be to include a photo of the part, parts, or area you have questions about...

    Cheers, welcome, and good luck,
    Chuck

If you are looking for authenticity to the restoration, black anodizing is the proper finish to make the grill look original. This 2008 picture is of an unrestored 911T with 700 miles on it. Unfortunately, I don't have a close up shot of the black anodized grill.

This is my emblem that should stay chrome but the grill needs to be black correct.

How do I remove this emblem without damage to either the emblem or the grill.

Is it stuck to a plate or the grille itself as it could be either. If it's the first it just has double sided tape holding it to the plate.

Please don't powder coat the grille.

I thought 72 was anodized black --- which over time it turns a purple-ish color. Painted black would be too dark -- in my opinion.

I think your grill looks fine, aged anodizing.

looks like its stuck to a plate and the plate is pinned to the grill. If it is tape then it must be very thin.

How should this grill be finished if not powder coated. Should it be a black anodized finish?
