    Thumbs up

This could turn out to be one of the BEST threads ever on ESR!
    .......

Not to bring this down too much...... but

    Here's the deal... or a deal.... :

I was watching Dennis Gage’s ‘My Classic Car’ about 20 years ago (no plot, just interviews) and in one of the segments was on a Duesenberg collector in Michigan. This guy was VERY well off and in his early 80’s….. and had a passion for Pebble Beach quality Dusenbergs….
While driving Gage around the lake in one of his open Doozy’s they ended up at his restoration shop where the whole crew was working on the total restoration of a particular Model J Roadster… The crew was prepping the last of the body work for the first of many (well cured) primer coats… before the countless coats of very well cured lacquer… with months and months of curing time between coats…
After discussing the significance of this particular car the owner/collector said ‘… and I just might not see the finish of this one’… Gage was caught for a second and the gentleman assured him he was in excellent senior heath…. ‘However, I’m no ‘spring chicken’ and you do realize the quality of restoration we’re talking about can go on for years… and years’

I said ‘YES’ to the TV and hoped everyone was watching……

Not much for the ratings…… but the REAL deal… Not sure if ‘My Classic Car’ is still on the air….

    … and so it goes

I watch Wheeler Dealers and Chasing Classic Cars when I get a chance. I met Wayne Carini last summer and I was impressed with how much he knew about my 914-6.
