    Tail Light Assembly Differences

    Hi All,

I posted this on the bird, but did not get any help.

Are there differences between 69-73 tail light assemblies and 74+ assemblies? I know the lenses are different across the years, but what about the internals or wiring harness? PET shows the same part number for 69 -73 and 74+. I need assemblies for my '70, so I was looking for reasonable replacements and see ads for LWB assemblies and some advertised as 74+ assemblies. help is appreciated.

    thanks,
    Dennis

    Hi D
This topic has been banged around heaps.
Use the Advance Search and you will see.
From memory MY72-73 had an additional wire serving the rear tail lights (may have been for indicator light on when parked ??) compared to 70-71.
69, 1 year build I cannot vouch for.

Supposedly 1972 right side tail light was different because of the wires that went to the oil tank if my memory serves me correctly.

Harnesses in the assemblies are different after ‘73 as the license plate lamps were moved to the bumper.
Porsche also moved from color coded wire in vinyl tubing to pairs of cloth type insulated wires for oil tank/rear fog lamp and license plate lights
