Early 911 ‘Red Lined’ Tool-bag Original

From my collection. Clearing my shelves...

Early factory SWB 911 ‘red lined’ tool-bag. I have this (and a few others I will be listing) for well over 10 years. No tears, rips works perfect. Has only slight threads loose in one corner ( very common). No tools.
    Always buy original!

    $650. (Sold)

What year(s) would the red interior be for?

In my experience, the red interior bags aren't specifically correct for any year. That said, I have seen them mostly in 1967 cars, a smattering of cars from 1968 and, possibly, a late 1966 car. I know of two very original 67S cars that were delivered with this bag. I've also seen a red bag with linen-style outer vinyl which is the most common vinyl for 67 cars.

I’ve had 3 as the one pictured here and all were reported to have came from 66 cars.

    Very interesting.

The more I learn about these red bags, the more I think it was probably a case of the vendor who made them running out of certain materials and just substituting what they had on hand.

Which doesn't mean they're not valuable. I think they'll always command 2x to 3x what a similar toolbag in standard colors would command.

I've always been infatuated with the blood-red-liner tool bag. Here is another one that was listed up to 66.

All due respect, I'm not sure that poster is much of an authority. I've seen nothing to ever imply these were in 64/65 cars.
