    Oil filter

    Billie Basic Question.

What brand of oil filter do most of you use??

    MY72

Limited choice here in New Zealand and they are probably not manufactured where they say they are on the box.

    Thanks in advance

I’ve been using the newish Porsche branded oil filter on both my 72 and 73. If you want a few of those I’d be happy to figure out shipping to NZ and send them your way.

    Hi Mark,
We used to import Mahle filters but a few years ago BNT stores (should be one near you) started stocking Hengst filters. 100% happy so far with fitting Hengst - We probably fit 10 or so per day to various modern cars at the shop.
I think your car would need an h17w27.

If you'd prefer Mahle, The metric nut in CHCH seems to list OC54's in stock for $30

Mann OC-54 for 40 yearsr....but I’d never pay $30 for one. I must’ve purchased my last supply many years ago. Still have a few left.

I like the Canton Racing filter, this one has anti flow back so not to drain your filter into the tank on the 911 and good quick start up pressure, 8 micron filtration flows 45 gpm A bit pricy to start with but filter elements are very reasonable buying the 6 pack I use the std version on the 912's without the anti flow back as I don't have them inverted like the 911 mounting, as ref the Ferrari has the filter on the top of the motor with mounting flange down.

Edit, pricing is better from Summit racing or Jegs and usually free shipping
