Bali Blue 1965 - How many?

My car, although having a cheap respray in red, over an even older and even cheaper respray in gold, was originally Bali Blue.

From the Kardex the car was completed 8th July 1965, although the VIN would appear to come from a sequence before July. I wonder is this because the car was ordered in Bali Blue and therefore the car was taken off the production line and held for a while until the factory had sufficient orders to spray a batch of cars in this unusual colour?

Does anyone else 'out there' have a '65 Bali Blue and I wonder how many'65 cars exist in this colour?

I also wonder whether any other Bali Blue '65s have VINs from an earlier sequence than the date other more regular colour cars ie red cars were finished

Bali Blue was standard color in mid 65, according the color chart.

There exists a statistic in a Christophrus of approximative color production percentage.
Also, if I recall correct, they painted the different standard color by weekdays, ie Monday red, Wednesday blue etc.

All publications, print, online, whatever, world-wide, which do list 6412 BALI BLUE as a special color and 6405 CHAMPAGNE YELLOW as a standard color are definitely wrong.

The 356C colorchart

Hello, my 65 #1744 is Bali Blue with Fawn interior. Looks like it was built 12 days after yours. My engine number is 901841, which is hard to read on Kardex but was confirmed by Porsche on the CoA. Here's the Kardex and some photos of pre-resto and resto currently in progress. The car was re-sprayed, but jamb color I think is original.

Looks great John My records show that 301742 was also Bali Blue but I have that as being completed on 30 June

Nice car John. The earliest car I've seen on a google search is vin 300278 in Bali Blue completed January '65 and was totally restored.
