Early 72 S fiber bumper

Any knowlege if this an original 72 S glass bumper. It certainly is well made. Though it has the SWB mounts. Seems to be a fleck of silver paint under the yellow. I haven't taken the mounts off to see if there is indeed another vertical mounting hole covered by the modified swb mounts! .......cliff

Cliff, that was made with a chopper gun. All of the originals I’ve owned and seen were hand laid.

Don’t feel bad... I thought I found an unredeemed lottery ticket in my crap a few weeks ago as well. Chopper gun too.

Too bad there's no real definitive marking on the factory fiberglass part. My car has a 'glass S bumper, and while I suspect it is aftermarket, I guess there is a small chance it is factory. Trying to decide if I want to keep and repair this one, or replace it with steel.

My car is not an S, but is an early '72 T (8/71, 0317). The bumper on the car now is a fiberglass S type, and the main shell is hand-laid cloth. The info I received from a contact in the UK does not list the front spoiler as a factory option. (PPS pending, assuming they get it right.) But the car was Tourist Delivery, and so I suppose it is possible (although perhaps not likely) that the original owner had it upgraded at the factory when he picked up the car. There does appear to be remains of silver paint (the car's original color) under the ugly red applied years ago.

The bumper is on the car now, I will take better pictures later when I have it off the car. Here is one taken inside the right fender well.
