    Porsche 1973 911 T Mechanical Injection

I am having problems with the mechanical injection pump and it needs to be rebuilt. It was recommended to me that I consider installing carburetors instead of the problems with the injector system. Has any one installed carbs on a car previously injected? What are the issues and how will it affect the sales price when it is sold??
    Thanks

Although many converted to carbs, a properly set up MFI is a real pleasure.
Pacific fuel injection does excellent work.
Where are you located? There are several mfi experts scattered around the country, and lots more people who can really mess it up.

Converting to carbs is so eighties.

You'll regret it. Especially when it's time to sell.

I concur with everybody else on here, I wouldn't put carbs on my 72 if you paid me . The smart move would be to rebuild the injection pump. You'll have the cost of the carburetors and the reduction in value when you're done. It's hard to say how much it affects value. I would think at least 5k but probably closer to 10K . Others may have a better idea of impact on value.

    PGI guy,

Make sure to have your car inspected by someone who has experience in MFI. My first mechanic kept insisting that my MFI pump needed to be rebuilt, even after the previous owner had told me that the pump was rebuilt by Gus at Pacific Fuel. I got second opinion( New Mechanic ). He was quickly able to diagnose that MFI pump is fine and my issue was with my throttle body. Many of these shops are not working on MFI pumps on a regular basis.

I hope you get your 73 sorted out.

For Boston area I'd highly recommend taking MFI cars (or any 911s really) to European Performance Engineering (EPE) in West Natick, MA. Jerry Pellegrino and his team are air cooled specialists from long hoods to 959. They can diagnose, tune, and assemble full MFI system and motor. If MFI pump needs rebuild EPE sends out to Pacific Fuel Injection, Jerry has worked with Gus for many years so time to completion is pretty reasonable.

    www.epe.com

EPE did full rebuild on my '74 Euro MFI Carrera 2.7 motor, which included a pump rebuild by Pacific. Car runs like a dream.
