Fuel tank filter screen replacement

Is there an alternative to buying the hugely expensive fuel tank fitting. https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...01-023-06-M100 The mesh screen has pulled away from my original fitting.

Any ideas or is another wallet bashing imminent.

EDIT: looks like i can just use a VW screen on my original fitting. Google was my friend.

Not sure how you can attach the VW one, the original screen is crimped on, I think the VW one is captured by the flange of the fitting?

For 10 bucks Ed, i think i will give it a go with twisting some mig wire to try to hold it. Nothing to lose.

You can also post for a used one. I have spares if you can't locate...Use new seal ring

Thanks John. Ordered new seal rings from Porsche. This is a part i would want new on my fuel system.

Except the screen coming loose in your tank, then you have no filtering and it would be a bit of a pain to try and get out. But you will only know it came loose when your fuel system starts to act up because of debris which will take a bunch of diagnoses to figure out. Geez, what are these cars worth? Pay the $100 and do it right the first time. Sorry, don't like hack jobs.

Mark, i think i might be a little bit smarter than that. I asked if buying new was the only solution, not if i should splash the cash. Maybe i should throw everything out and buy new.
