Electric antenna with front oil cooler - a myth?

We have a 72S (oil lines & front cooler) and made enquiry in the following thread as to what would be the right electric antenna. We assumed the car originally had electric antenna as the right fender had the hole in factory location - we think now this fender was a replacement.

Had some great feedback and all roads lead to a Hirschmann 6000F correct for the year and fitted to our cars (but no proof for an S) so we went off and procured one. Checked dimentions and its the same size as all of the references in the forum and pictures in the factory service manuals.

Well there is no way it will fit up under the fender without protruding out of the wheel arch as the oil lines are in the way.

The next or alternate model to 6000f is 6000H but this is about the same size as the F so no help.

There is a 6000U model which is shorter and used on short hoods but I cannot find any reference to this prior to 1974 - most likely 1976.

So what does this all mean? In the absence of being able to identify a smaller Hirschmann antenna from this time period it implys that Porsche did not have an electric antenna option to fit to S models......

Kardex or pics will disprove this theory

Ivan, as we have discussed, same issue with a 74 MFI Carrera- oil lines do not allow the "correct" 6000F to be installed on a car that had always had a power antenna installed (The one that was on the car was a newer plastic replacement).

*Someone* has to have a 72/73S with an original power antenna- any information would be appreciated!

My car has a power aerial and oil cooler but it was local fit in the UK.

Option 461 was power antenna right in model year 73. Or 441 power antenna right, with speaker. I suppose some S got that option from factory that year and can share the antenna model number.

In 1972/3 parts book the automatic antenna is 911.645.033.00. Haven't double checked the paper copy book but from a note I've made

From what I've seen inspecting model year 73 cars and looking at the factory and Hirschmann leaflets with recommended fitting measurements the position of hole drilled on the right wing ( fender) changed over the years.

The hole position changing is interesting- appreciate the insight.

Bumping this for any 73S owners with a power antenna who can share a pic or model number of their antenna.

    Thanks!
