Thread: Recaro Comfort restoration

    Question Recaro Comfort restoration

I'm currently restoring a 1969 2.0S 911 Targa and I'm having a hard time to check if have the correct seats in the car.
I identified 3 different types of Recaro Comfort seats:

    Type 1:
    - Chromed compass
    - Triggering system on the side of the compass

    Type 2:
    - Chromed compass
    - Triggering system on the top of the compass

    Type 3:
    - Black compass
    - Triggering system on the top of the compass

Type 2 and 3 are the same except the compass color (black vs chrome)
I have the type 1 seat, is it correct for a 1969 2.0S Targa LWB?
For my information, I would really appreciate if you can give me the year range of every model.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

    THanks a lot Doug
It would be great to have more details on the different types, like production years.
Based on my COA, the seats have the option 9832, do you know what it means?

I have type 1 on my October 1969 built MY 70 911-S and they are original to the car.

Thanks a lot mac73s and NZVW!
I'm just surprised that no one talked about this detail before...
    So, we can probably assume:
    type 1: 69
    type 2: 70 71 72
    type 3: 73
I would be interested to have pictures before 69.

If you do a search (upper right corner) you will find more info on this site on early 911 seats than you will ever need to know.

"type 1" is 69 and 70 year models
"type 2" is 1971 year model only. Note: there are 2 different triggers depending when your car was made. Early production 71s got a rather large plastic trigger. Later in the production year the trigger got much smaller and is the same one used for 72/73
"type 3" is 72/73 year models

I made a video of restoring 2 1969 comfort seats which are Type 1 as you identify above:
