Any factory jack between a 1963 356 and a 69 911 would be appropriate. Sorry, I don't have any pictures to attach.

    Regards

It would be "Jack D" as shown at http://www.356tools.com/Jack.htm.

But, I have been told that the paint on the jack base changed from the infamous Bilstein Blue to black sometime early in the 911 era--maybe 1966.

There is one for sale at Karmann Konnection for just £300 with VAT. There's also one at Sierra Madre Collection for $495 (It's incorrectly shown as being correct for '56 to '71--the picture sort of looks like the T6-early 911 Version, the part number's also incorrect). I've seen restored jacks at swap meets under $300.

The parts catalogs show jack part number 644.722.010.00 was used from the 356A through the short-wheelbase 911s and 912s but Eric Cherneff's Porsche 356 Tool Kits shows some changes within that part number.

If you go shopping, be sure you know the difference between T2/T5 and T6/early 911 jacks:

From Eric Cherneff's Porsche 356 Tool Kits

    911s had the "solid" kind.

These jacks aren't all that difficult to restore although the retaining springs that hold the base on will put up a fight. Removing rust from the jack shaft can be hard--there have been replacement shafts. I got one from Carquip. The rubber donut on the top is part # 644.722.011.00 available from Sierra Madre Collection and Stoddard.

Ha! Just rechecked and I do have the correct one. For some reason green dot was on my mind.

Correct. The no "depression" jack was introduced with the 356B T6.

PET shows the same part number 644.722.010.00 was used from the 356A to 911s and 912s through 1968 but it's pretty clear the no depression jack came in around 1962.

If you need one, Tom Keating has a Porsche 356 Bilstein jack restored 1962-1965 - $280 for sale at the 356 Registry. I believe Tom told me that at some point--maybe 1966--the base changed from Bilstein Blau to black. That's an easy fix if you want black.
