7R Fuchs....

I recently purchased a batch of four 7R wheels in used but very good straight crack-free condition; the plan is to keep at least two for my car and possibly sell the remaining two, either first restored or as is....

....looking at production dates to pair them up, two dates are very clear, one debatable and one practically invisible and impossible to make out.

I've read somewhere that there is only a handful of dates when 7R's were actually produced....is that correct and if so what were the dates?

I appreciate any feedback....

Hi Darren, hope you are well. I assume the hard to read one is the last picture in your first post.? Second year number looks like a 2. We know the first non 7R wheels first appeared in March 71, so that wheel must be a 70 wheel.

Hi, i think the production dates are between 67 and the end of 70

That one is actually the debatable date; I also figured it was most likely a 1970 so I guess I'll match it with the 04/70 wheel.
There's nothing to see with the fourth wheel so didn't bother with a photo.

We're 7R's also production month specific?

I was surprised too when I found them as well whit all the ink stamp in perfect condition...

I wouldn't know the answer to the month specific question. Harvey might chime in soon. Most 70 dated 7R wheels i have seen have mostly been, 4 or 6-70 dated.
Maybe something to do with the order for the flat 7" inch wheel starting in early 71.

Thanks chaps.....not overly important but it would be nice to know 7R production months and years.

I did send photos to Harvey who commented they were nice original wheels in good condition, just waiting to hear back from him as to when he could work his magic on them

These 7R's were purchased through necessity.........initially I'd purchased some reproduction Deep 6 & 7R Fuchs to use for track days so I could wring the life out of my old worn Avons saving the good new tires for the road.....



.....unfortunately I discovered that fake 7R Fuchs don't fit over 930 rear calipers ....



....the fear then was I'd be stuck if I ever damaged the widened 7R's Harvey made for me....hence the need for a spare set.

The real 7R's will now see me through a few track days until they get refurbished and become my good set.

I'm on the lookout for a pair of Deep 6's to match them up with.....

....for the moment I'm using a pair of Group 4 Deep 6's for track work although I did have a go at replicating a racing finish to give them a look.....

....lacquer stripped, anodised and painted.....







....these are very much 10-footers.........Harvey has nothing to fear!
