    Other License Frames . . .

. . . one of those 'little touches' that --- for me . . . add that something special to any old car

    Romance?

    Nostalgia?

    Dunno

Maybe just a little bit o' vintage art --- hanging out back . . . in all the oil and soot and dirt

    TWA

    Started in the '20s . . . bought-out by American in 2001

If I had to guess --- based on the detailing in the lower corners + slogan . . . then I'd say the frame is from the late '60s to early '70s

    No Maker's mark or ID . . . but looks like it's channeling RWB&Co

    Travelers . . .

    . . . insurance?
Also a synonym for bum. And Gypsy

    Interesting little bit --- + love this font . . .

    . . . too bad most of the OG finish 's rubbed-off

But/then-again --- what can ya expect? Painting chromed pot-metal?
Almost tempted to touch this one up. Almost

No Makers marks or ID --- but/again . . . those corners remind me of RWB&Co. Guessing late '60s-to-early-70s?

Plate 's off my very first car

    Bonneville . . .

    . . . Speed Week

Dull white lettering in barbeque'd/phongraphed med grey letter-boxes, flash-chromed, no Makers' marks or ID, std UT pass plate

A totally American institution made more-popular post-war by all those ex-USAAF Mechs who took their talents + enthusiasm out here for some exercise. LSR, anyone?

    No notion as to where this came from --- = prolly sold at a roadside kitsch-shop . . . or when ('60s?, '70s?, '80s?), BUT/still . . .

    . . . one o' Those Places

Since everyone from Whitney to your local speed shop sold tag frames like these, any idea who manufactured them? Although mine aren't dealer frames the ribbed painted background seems common to them all. Also note variations in the mounting lugs... guessing the angled ones are earlier, (possibly) later versions are triangular.

    Faux Circle . . .

    . . . Porsche Audi frame

Saw this a coupla months ago . . . kinda shook me!

At first I took this to be a properly restored Circle frame --- the earliest version, too

    But a few weeks later, I came across another --- which I promptly purchased . . . ~$60

I compared it to another proper vintage bit that I acquired some years back

Interesting. The font is pretty close, but, as you can see, the proportions are a just biiiiiit off

    Still --- pretty snappy . . . and maybe not enough to join a collection . . .

    . . . but nice-enough to brighten-up the back of my car

No pics unfortunately, but in 1981 I worked at Advanced Micro Devices as a young entry-level engineer. The Co-Founder/CEO was a brilliant sales and marketing professional by the name of Jerry Sanders. He was flamboyant, but was happy to share the wealth. He had a black convertible Bentley which had the cliche license plate frame of “My Other Car is a Rolls Royce.” Okay, kind of silly. Then one day I saw a black convertible Rolls Royce - his other car- and, you guessed it - the license plate frame said “My Other Car is a Bentley.”

Ostentatious, yes, of course, but there was a method to his madness. There were numerous incredible incentives introducing stock options for every employee, meaningful profit sharing for every employee and fun contests where a front-line production worker won something like life-time house payments. It was electrifying at the time. Nearly 12,000 employees today.

    2001 911 Turbo - sold
    1996 911 C4S - returned
    1982 911SC - gone
    1960 356 Roadster - sold
